Good Ideas Fund

Get up to $1000 in Support

GIF logoYour good ideas help enhance student life. Tell us about your plan to hold a film screening, conference, exhibit, performance, or other activity and you could be awarded up to $1000 towards making it happen. Or apply for $500 in support for student-initiated experiential learning opportunities.

The Good Ideas Fund and the Experiential Learning Fund are open to all full- or part-time U of T students and to any U of T student group on all campuses.

Funding priorities include:
  • Activities, projects or learning opportunities that reflect the Hart House Vision
  • Activities, projects or learning opportunities that enhance or have a significant impact on student life on campus
  • Activities or projects open to all students and that benefit all students
  • Activities or learning opportunities that promote diversity, collaboration and interaction between student groups
Applicants must submit their application a minimum of four weeks before the event. The Student Funding Committee meets to review application six times per year on the following dates:
  • September 30th, 2013
  • October 28th, 2013
  • November 25th, 2013
  • January 27th, 2014
  • February 24th, 2014
  • March 24th, 2014

Applications will be assessed on how well they meet these criteria and the quality of the impact they have on the U of T student community.

The Good Ideas Fund

Successful applicants are eligible to receive up to $1,000 in funding for the 2013-14 academic term, for on-campus events only.

The Good Ideas Fund will award a total of $12,000 to student groups on campus for the 2013-14 academic year. We will accept applications on a rolling basis until this amount has been fully dispersed.

NEW Experiential Learning Fund

This new stream of the Good Ideas Fund is designed to provide financial support for student-initiated experiential learning opportunities, on- or off-campus, that allow students to engage in practical applications of theories.

All University of Toronto students are eligible to apply. The learning opportunity must occur before April 1st of the 2013/14 academic year. Students who graduate prior to the experience taking place are not eligible.

Students may apply for up to $500 in support. Funds are awarded once per academic year. Only one Experiential Learning Fund application may be submitted per academic year.
